Seder Nezikin constitutes the main body of Jewish civil and criminal law, outlining the legal responsibilities individuals have toward one another and the procedures of the judicial system. The first three major tractates—collectively known as the "Bavot"—deal extensively with damages to property, theft, liability, and inheritance (Bava Kamma, Bava Metzia, Bava Batra). Beyond these, it covers the rules for establishing courts, hearing testimony, and administering justice and penalties (Sanhedrin and Makkot), and concludes powerfully with the ethical teachings of Avot (Ethics of the Fathers), emphasizing moral conduct as the foundation of a just society
